ADULT Piano Lessons

ADULT piano lessons at Merrell Music Piano Studio in Fishers are TRULY so much fun! Adults in our studio reclaim or experience for the first time the joy of making music!

Taking a break to sit at the piano at home or the studio is a great escape from the daily pressures. You will be happily surprised at how quickly you are able to play familiar songs!

Adult lessons can be group or private...or BOTH!

What are lessons like? Remember, this is a time for YOU to be rejuvenated, so...: 
  • ​We can focus on...(drumroll.)...your favorite type of music! (Exposure to lots of genres of music is still good, though!)
  • We play duets in a low-pressure situation, turning even the simplest piece of music into something that sounds fantastic!
  • We don't worry about mistakes! Everyone makes 'em!
  • You are welcome to join in the current incentive themes! (Last year we earned pirate gold doubloons...this year we are solving musical mysteries!)
  • You can opt in or out of almost any of the options listed below!

Technique: gaining skills allowing more difficult music to be mastered with less effort
Sight-reading: learning specific strategies to become a confident sight-reader at the piano
Composition: exploring techniques to get your ideas from your head to the piano and on paper
Improvisation: creating musical and rhythmic motives on the spot or with a little planning
Transposition: playing a piece in one key…then playing it in a different key using the same music
Technology: using technology to aid in the learning and enjoyment of many music genres 
Ensembles: music is not a solitary event! Piano ensembles, mixed instruments, even cups and body rhythms!
Performance opportunities: learning techniques to facilitate quality piano performances, then putting that into practice!
Incentive programs: yearly and seasonal incentive programs to keep students motivated with music!
