Don Giovanni Staging Project
This production of Don Giovanni will highlight the destructiveness of misogyny, keep the reality of sexual violence at the forefront of discussion, and showcase the potential of empowered women to push back against oppression and violence.

In visiting with regular opera attendees, I am told that opera often confirms their viewpoints and is a comfortable and interesting experience, but that occasionally they are presented an idea through opera that challenges their viewpoints. My goal is to bring topics more to their attention, prompting discussion of those topics, as well as expanding the target audience, which will increase the amount of discussion initiated as a result of this production.
Due to making several large changes to accomplish this goal, I will keep other aspects very traditional. If everything is extremely different, then it presents as so alien that we do not relate or would not as clearly see the parallels to our current system. I am referencing the currently accepted system and challenging it a bit.
